Commercial Orbital Transportation System

larger textsmaller text

The Commercial Orbital Transportation System (COTS) competition is a partially NASA funded effort to bring commercial space service to reality. With the Space Shuttle program ending in 2010 and the Constellation Program not slated to go to the International Space cotsStation (ISS) until 2014, a need has developed for commercial re-supply for the ISS. Additionally, as the Constellation program gears up to go back to the moon and then beyond, the trips to the ISS will once again, most likely rely on commercial re-supply.

This is an exciting endeavor because it marks the first time, NASA has invested money into the private sector for competitive commercial space transportation services. This effort will begin a new era in accessibility to space, not only for NASA, but for anyone who just might need to put something in orbit. This technology will be used as a catalyst towards commercial ventures in space, which means one day you and I might be able to tour space and maybe even spend a night or two.

Cimarron is extremely proud to be providing ground control solutions in this historical, technological challenge.
