Executive Vice President | Space Systems - Walt Lind
Since joining Cimarron in 1981, Mr. Walt Lind has been assigned as a developer, a technical lead, a manager, and Vice President. He has over 25 years of software engineering experience. Presently, as Executive Vice President, Walt is responsible for the development and operation of control centers, real-time command and control systems applications, real-time automated control system applications, and hardware and software integration. Recent work includes the sustaining engineering and maintenance and operations of the Mission Control Center at Johnson Space Center, avionics systems engineering and development for the Shuttle Cockpit Upgrade, on-orbit engineering applications for shuttle operations and return-to-flight.
From 1993 to 1999, Walt served as Vice President of Business Development. Walt provided the strategic direction for Cimarron's business development activities. He was responsible for developing new business relationships, new technical directions for Cimarron, and new and expanded opportunities with Cimarron's existing customer base. During his earlier years at Cimarron, Walt was a Vice President and Manager for Cimarron's efforts for the Space Transportation Systems Operations Contract (STSOC), Space Station Onboard, and Space Station Control Center work, and the Consolidated Control Facility for Shuttle and Station consolidated control. As a software engineer, Walt provided the leadership on the Data Architecture and System Services for the Trajectory, Command, Analysis, and Timeline Subsystem for the Space Station Control Center effort. As Senior Project Manager for Cimarron, he led a utility customer's department-wide evaluation effort of their Energy Management System support functions. His varied responsibilities included evaluation and directing enhancements of: the operational system, test system maintenance tools and methodologies, software modification and maintenance procedures from development to production, and simulation and testing enhancements required to meet overall system objectives of 99.97% availability.
Prior to joining Cimarron, Walt was employed by IBM in Austin, where he planned, designed, and led the development of the data management system for the Information Systems department and provided the technical plan and led implementation of the automated circuit design support package that IBM used to design VLSI circuitry. Walt holds a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Iowa.
